Not as many games as there were 2-4 years ago. (Fox's last season, when they aired every week from Feb. on) (ESPN/ESPN2 had 150+ games 2-3 years ago)

IMO, when this current contract is up- Expect the NHL to go to the Peacock Network (and still probably ESPN/ESPN2) and with telecasts every week. Their best sports offerings- the Triple Crown, NASCAR and Norte Dame football.

ESPN/ESPN2 is cutting their NHL coverage by 30% this season because the ratings are down. So the coverage has gone from 128 games in 2000/01 to 101 last year to 71 this season.

I wish NBC didn't have any NASCAR coverage because they suck! Add Benny Parsons to the Fox crew somewhere and let Fox/FX/Fox Sports Net/Speed cover it all season.

How many games were there on ESPN/ESPN2 in '99-'00?

Another reason why ESPN/ESPN2 reduced NHL coverage is they picked up the NBA this coming season. It'll be on Wed. nite, shifting hockey to thurs. nite.

Ho-hum. Looks like ESPN/ABC doesn't think Edmonton or Vancouver are worthy of televising. Probably a few more teams also. Sure wish they would try to cover all the divisions. Oh well at least we'll see the Canucks in the Stanley Cup playoffs on ESPN/ABC. LOL

HDDave I have a funny feeling Edmonton and Vancouver don`t care if their games are televised elsewhere as I`m sure they want to bolster their own PPV this year. JMHO. /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

Ho hum, there is a pretty good reason why the Canadian teams don't show up on ESPN/ABC or on FOX before them. If the Rangers were losing to the Leafs, guess how many ratings points they would get from viewers in Toronto? ZERO! If you have low ratings, you can't charge as much for commercials and you make less money.
