Well the road is now clear for the Liberal cabinet to overturn the CRTC's approval of Craig in the "Centre of the Universe"
This licence should never have been granted to Craig as their plan was counter to the stated goals of the CRTC for new outlets. Now the opportunity is there for the Liberals to overturn it without looking too corrupt by favouring their supporters. From the Globe & Mail

CHUM Ltd. is appealing a federal regulatory decision to award a television licence for the Toronto area to Craig Broadcasting Systems Inc. of Winnipeg. In its petition to overturn the April 8 ruling by the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission, Toronto-based CHUM says the new station will trim its revenue by at least $10-million a year, and the company may have to cut hours of local programming as a result. Torstar Corp. and CanWest Global Communications Corp. have already filed their appeals of the ruling. Stan Keyes, the Liberal Member of Parliament for Hamilton West, and independent television producer Alan Aylward, also of Hamilton, are also asking cabinet to review the decision.

The last thing the Golden Horseshoe needs is WB/UPN outlet 4 under the guise of Canadian broadcasting.
