CFRN 1260 to become The Team

AM 1260 (CFRN) Edmonton is flipping formats June 3.

The station will go from Adult Standards to become part of CHUM's "The Team" Sports Radio Network.

AM 1260 is owned by Standard Radio.

So with this change do I persume there may be a radio purchase in Edmonton in next little while?

Or does CHUM already own a station in Edmonton. If I'm not mistaken are not they(radio station owners) allowed to own 2 FM & 2 AM station in a city market?

No, I don't forsee CHUM buying CFRN. It'll likely be operated under an agreement similar to the one with Rogers in Calgary for The Team 960 (CFAC).

So there is going to be a battle with CHED to see who broadcasts the Oilers and Eskimos games. I applaud this decision, I can now get away from listning to Bryan Hall, the worst radio personality to ever hit the airwaves (Sled Dog from the Bear is a close second!)

You don't like the infamous Mr.Hall? The guy who invented football, hockey, television, radio and everything in between? I remember when he was on ITV giving his live hits during the local news and the news anchor would say "Hi Hallsy" and then listen to his diatribe on whatever for about 5 minutes. Then the host would gush all over him,stroke his ego and say "Thanks Bryan, talk to you tomorrow."

I doubt there is another person on earth that is as full of himself as Mr. Hall. Man does he like to hear himself talk.

Rush Limbaugh is pretty full of him self just like Bryan Hall. But then again everybody in radio is full of them selfs, don't know why? they work in radio end of story.

Kevin Karius seems to gush all over Bryan sometimes when he is not gushing over or flirting with Claire, Linda or Gord.

I know many people who would take great offence to that -- because its simply not true.

Not sure on this but I believe I read this or heard, that Rogers had bought THE FAN 590. I'm not sure this is true or not, but if it is wouldn't it make more sense for Rogers to change their station as their own sports station out West instead of being THE TEAM 960 and just call it 'THE FAN 960'?
