View Full Version : Starchoice Ver. 110, opt 6-0, ?

Starchoice has added a number 6 to this screen, after diagnostic data - there is a ....
(I can't remember the name, sorta like "display non-prefered channels", or something) I wish my memory was better....

Does anyone know what this screen option does?

Yeah I noticed it too. I have no idea what is for and you can't seem to click on it.

For Opt 6-0-5, they have now also added a Diag G and H, plus the ability to left arrow from Diag A to H.

I got 110 last night too on my 410.

04-18-2002, 11:48 AM
Also got it on my 421b, first time last night that I saw the Dolby Digital icon in the guide.

G an H used to be there before ver. DC, and they took it away.

I also noticed that we can now loop through the PPV purchases.

my 401 got done last nght too!

Dede' I wasn't able to find the DD icon, where would I look?

(401's IPG is back!, the War Dept doesn't understand my enthusiasm today).

I got 110 on my floor model as well. Must have been a busy night!

If you look through some TMN movie listings in the IPG, you'll see "Dolby Digital 5.1" in small text and again if you do an 'Info'.

What does opt 6-0-6 do? And why can't I find any DD icon in the IPG. (I live near Edmonton)

I think option 6-0-6 is a Fisher Price option that is just meant for us to have something to do, we can click it, and nothing....

If you live in the west, the only DD you will see is on the HD channels 291 & 293..

The guide only seems to go ahead 48hrs with the new software..

Didn't it go ahead 72 hours before the update??

Its probably better to have a 48hr guide that works well instead of a 72 hour guide that has no info a lot of the time...

04-18-2002, 06:22 PM
I haven't seen No Info anywhere with 110 (at least within the guide parameters).

04-18-2002, 06:57 PM
Only 48 hours. That is ridiculous. When I bought the system I kept on being told it is 5 days. Then reality sunk in and I saw it was 3, now it is down to 2. That is crazy.

Try and find another satellite company that goes further ! They were all good starting off...but not anymore...it's definitely not the end of the World.

I agree with what was said in this thread...a working 48 hr guide is much better than a 72 that does not .

If you like you can always switch to BEV and enjoy their 48hr IPG

Actually in the begining SC had a 7 day ahead guide, more info, ie. Monday 6th 7:00PM at the top of the IPG. Anyway I wish they had that again.

04-19-2002, 09:54 AM
yes...a 7 day ahead guide was great: except for when the networks or the channels changed their programming once that guide was already set up. Notmuch tht Starchoice could do when that happened and then they got calls because the guide was wrong. Givem a break guys...if the 48 hour guide has info....thats a great start isn't it?? You could always order their Debut guide: it gives you a month ahead of programming to look at.

Problem is that the 48 hours is not even as good as you think. Take a look at your guide if you have the 110 update. It now does not have any program details for any programs further then 22 hours ahead.

So now we only have program listings for 48 hours.
We only have program details for 22 hours.

I know you enjoy losing services that you still have to pay for, but I don't.

And I will complain and point out problems, changes etc, as long as Starchoice makes them.

Can anybody tell me about the Options 6-0-6 line, "Hide Non-Preferred Channels"????

04-19-2002, 02:50 PM
My guide has info and detailed listings for the majority of the channels all the way out to Sunday at 6pm currently.

I finally got the 110 version of f/w for the 401 late last week. The Dolby Digital works fine in the listings (good feature), however I notice that NOTHING in the PPV area shows as DD5.1. I thought that the PPV guys were going to start showing 5.1 stuff.....anyone here know if this is the case....it appears not to be, according to the guide.

Also....I STILL got the darn NO INFO in the IPG with the 110 firmware....

After another weekend of NO INFO, could someone point me to the diagnostic to finf out if I'm targeted for an upgrade?

Or link to the thread...?

Todd, options 6-4 and then scoll down to see what the current version and target version are.

(however.....) neither of my two receivers indicated this preamble before taking version 110, I just woke up on two seperate mornings to see each of them changed.

You can also tell what you are using by hitting options, 6,0,5, and then line 3 as indicated here.

...which applies to the 400 series receivers as well.

Thanks, Bent... Current is DC, target is 110. That means turn it off tonight for an upgrade, right? I turn it off every night anyway.
