View Full Version : BEV PVR and VCR questions

Okay, I've read--and heard--a whack of info on the digital recording features of the PVR. What about recording from the PVR to a VCR? Do things work the same as the 4700 model? Can you set up equipment to record both digitally and onto a tape at the same time?, i.e., you want something on tape for future reference but don't wish to hog up the hard drive, etc. Thanks,

First, the 5100 still supports VCR timers and the infrared blaster features that the 4700 supports, so you don't lose anything.

You cannot have a timer go to the PVR and the VCR simultaneously - but there is nothing preventing you from setting your VCR to come on at the same time as the PVR timer, and therefore recording the video at the same time as the PVR.

Finally, you can always dub a recording to VCR by playing it back while your VCR is set to record. There is no automatic "dub to VCR" feature, though - you have to do it manually. This is something which may eventually show up as a feature (it's technically possible) but it's not there now.
