I read in another forum that a guy connected his BEV receiver on a H/V LNBF (or starchoice Dish) on T5 and was getting Some Arabic channel... could this work?
I never tried that.

I'm not talking about Illegal satellite reception here.

Yes, it can work. As long as the parameters (symbol rate, frequency, PID, etc) of the other, non-ExpressVu channels match that of those hardcoded into the receiver, you can receive FTA programming. Don't expect miracles and don't expect plentiful programming.

does it has to be vertical or horizontal or 90o rotated?
and what TP should the receiver be at to receive the signal lock?

I have no idea about the polarization, however I know the LNBF on the E* dish is circularly polarized, while most Ku satellites are linearly polarized.
You can look up these channel descriptions at www.lyngsat.com, but you'll need a reasonable idea where you're pointed (ie. to the east or west of Nimiq, for example)

Those are the ones. I tuned my Dishet receiver to tp 13,
and aimed my big dish there, with the C-band tuned to
ABC-W, a horiziontal channel.

That's what I'm dying to know /forums/images/icons/smile.gif Imagine if the government actually succeeds in passing that stupid law banning C-band and KuBand FTA watching, we can just get another ExpressVu dish and hook it up to an FTA receiver. The Bell 'Culture' Police would never know >:)
But I already asked this question and it seems an ordinary 18" or 24" dish aren't large enough to get KuBand (let alone C-band!).

How do I tune it though? All I get is the boquet with
Nile TV, Palastinian Channels, and the JRTV promo (on a dishnet receiver).

Your not going to see Hits 102.5 with a BEV receiver.
Hits 102.5 has been at 11874H SR 22000 FEC 3/4 although not currently available.
You cannot manually tune with at BEV receiver. It is also only able to receive bouquets that have a SR of 20000.
Check the Lyngsat charts to see what you can receive.

I wonder why it only shows colour bars? maybe they broadcast during certain hours?
But they do stream on the Internet at http://www.hitchannel.it. You can choose to listen to the radio station (click on "Radio Live") or watch their video channel (click on "Radio Tv Live").
I was watching it last night and they had a special on videos with cartoons /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

<I wonder why it only shows color bars? maybe they broadcast during certain hours?>
This channel had been on 24/7 for many months until recently.
