Don't hold your breath!

It's been on the Toronto and Ottawa test transmitters and HDNet, but SC has never picked up any of those sources. You'll have better luck with BEV or Rogers since both have carried the test transmitters in the past.

SC only carried Over Canada once, when it was picked up by CTV for Canada Day a couple of years ago. I guess there's a slim chance it could be broadcast again this year for Canada Day, but it didn't happen last year.

Here's a question for all you smarty pants out there.
Why does PBS widescreen standard definition look better than FOX 480p? Should it not look as good as each other?

Just a guess but it could be for the same reason that most would think Smart Travels looks "better" than movies in HD also. One is shot on HD video, the other is transferred from film.

Perhaps the same can be said in the case you asked about except that there both sources dont happen to be HD, but yet still of equal resolution.

The differences are most likely due to the lighting and camera work. With PBS nature shows you have bright outdoor shots with lots of sunlight and wide depth of field which gives a stark, realistic look. Fox shows are mainly sitcoms with indoor sets, artificial lighting and soft focus. Not all the PBS widescreen shows look good either.. the one on Niagara Falls looked awful.
