Hi there,
is there anybody who can share his experience from geting (or not) ExpressVu and Starchoice in Mexico ? In particular in Guadalajara ?
I will move in a few feeks to that city and I wish I could get french speaking programs as well as the major american networks (Abc, Nbc, Cbs, Fox) installing a dish back there.
Thanks for your answers.

According to this map Guadalajara is too far south for Nimiq.

My sister is at southern tip of Texas just north of Matamoros and no problem with 24" dish with Bev. Some of her neighbours are having no problems with their 18"ers.
According to the map at the following link, you would think she needed a 72" or 96"er. http://www.kusat.com/install/foot/nimiq.shtml
The curvature of the footprint does not give much hope at your prospective location.. tho you never know...

There was someone in Mexico a year or so ago who went through this. You may find info in the old Kusat bbs files. He tried a large dish could get nothing for ExpressVu. The footprint of Anik F1 extends much further south and he was able to use StarChoice with no problem.

A least 1m50 antenna is required ! That will be Star Choice (too bad)...

The French programing for *C is on E2 so the F1 footprint doesn't really apply.

Could you please explain ? I don't get it !
F1 footprint applies all the way to the southern border of Mexico and Guadalajara is just a little bit lower than Baja California.

He is saying the french channels are on E2 which doesn't reach that far south. In case you don't know SRC,TVA, TFO,RDI and french Teletoon are also on F1 so until F2 launches later this year these will be the only french channels available to you.

I don't mind not having the pay per view thing. I never used that as a matter of fact... I'd rather rent a DVD.
What I want is just some french channels for my soon and I and the Usa big networks (Abc, Nbc, Fox, Cbs). That will make it with F1.
Do you know when F2 will be launched ?

SC uses 2 satellites F1 and E2. While F1 has continental beams for both North & South America; E2 has only Canadian regional & National beams. Sometime in 2003, E2 will be replaced by F2. F2 will have North American Ku continental beams with a power level 10% greater than F1.
For complete SC channel assignments, checkout the "Digital America" charts for F1 and E2 at:
http://www.lyngsat.com/dig/america.shtml
On F1, you will see 8 French SC services, available to you now, starting at channel #700
The E2 listing will show you what will also be available to you after F2 is operational

Anik F1:
http://www.lyngsat.com/anikf1.shtml
and
Starchoice2:

Anik E2:

www.lyngsat.com/anikf1.shtml (http://www.lyngsat.com/anikf1.shtml) and www.lyngsat.com/anike2.shtml (http://www.lyngsat.com/anike2.shtml) only show which transponders SC uses; they do not show which services are on each transponder.
www.lyngsat.com/dig/starchoicef1.shtml (http://www.lyngsat.com/dig/starchoicef1.shtml) and www.lyngsat.com/dig/starchoicee2.shtml (http://www.lyngsat.com/dig/starchoicee2.shtml) show which SC services are on each SC transponder
