An article in the National Post at <a target="_blank" href=http://www.nationalpost.com/search/story.html?f=/stories/20020302/212908.html>http://www.nationalpost.com/search/story.html?f=/stories/20020302/212908.html</a> states that Richard Peddie, the president and chief executive of Maple Leafs Sports &amp; Entertainment, the company that owns the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Toronto Raptors, predicts that in about a decade Canadian Television fans will have to pay to watch a Leafs or a Raptors Game.

He also says the new Digital Channels like Leafs TV and Raptors TV are the first step in moving away from free sports on TV.

When they pay me to watch the Leafs then I'll become a fan.

I guess Izzy Asper is investing in the teams and not only will we pay for sporting events but for OTA stations too.
