The manual says:
<quote>
<b>Timer</b> A steady lightindicates a timer is set.
It flashes when the timer is within two minutes of being activated or if it is active.
</quote>

Is that so?

Playing with my 301, I found the pin on the LED control chip
that lights when a timer is set, but extinguishes when the
timer event is executed. I am looking for the flashing action when the timer event is executing.

Yep, the light keeps blinking until the timer event is over.

I solved it.
The LED flashes quick for 2 minutes until the event starts,
then flashes slow for the duration of the event. I just wasn't holding the probe to the IC pin long enough to see
the long flashes.

You seem knowledgeable enough to do a mod a put an LED on the 301 you have, but anyways this might be for others.

Don't go soldering any LED to the pin, make sure the IC can source enough current, otherwise you might blow the output driver. A good solution is a transistor and pull-up/down combo. Let the transistor source the current.
