Any ideas when *C might release a new reciever?
Anyone else thinking of jumping to BEV for cooler toys?

Yep I am thinking of jumping. Only have one Star Choice receiver at this time but was thinking of adding one on. What with no eliptical upgrade for us long term customers (still have the round) and the fact they plan on a 4.99 fee for extra receivers, i might just jump to bell for the chance at the PVR etc.

My 5100 was awesome during the Olympics, just like the commercial. They didn't even show the ability to do your own instant replays. It's a shame that *C hasn't come out with one. I don't want to see everyone jumping ship (even though you'd be welcome). We need competition, and not just from the cable guys!

Actually, a really funny thing happened with my 5100 during the Canada/Belarus game. I had a bunch of people from work over to watch the game, and we ordered in some pizzas. When the pizza guy arrived, I paused the game, went and got the pizza and brought it downstairs. Once everybody got their first slice, and was sitting down again, I pushed play, and the first word out of Bob Cole's mouth was "SCORES!" Everybody just kind of sat there saying "what, what?" Luckily I could rewind it so everybody could see it. It was the first Belarus goal.

Buckster : Unless you are looking to invest heavy in a PVR, you might think of staying with *C. The BEV 3100 has some neat features but they get old after a while and really what most people want is just to watch TV. In that respect, the *C picture quality is superior for the most part.

I have both systems unlike koolracing who has *C and no bell.
PQ is better on *C on some channels and better on bell on others.
Overall PQ is about even other than bell channel 299 that shows HDTV widescreen downconverted for a reg tv.

StarChoice has been tweaking the picture quality quite a bit over the last couple of months.

....I don't have BEV. Which channels now look better on BEV than *Choice?

The picture quality on some of the channels on SC that looked bad before have improved. I'm still pondering wether or not to jump to ExpressVu. But I will wait, hopefully SC comes out with a PVR soon.

Koolracing, do you even have a 5100? You refered to the 3100 but i suspect you mean the PVR. The features of the 5100 certainly do not grow old. I appreciate it more as time goes by and couldn't part with it now. It completely changes the way you watch TV.
