Over a week ago, I mentioned that ExpressVu has changed the name from BCTV to CHAN (BCTV/Global's legal calls in Vancouver) on ch.241. I also wondered why they did such a name, as BCTV is more well-known and CHAN isn't.
Apparently, someone at ExpressVu is reading this forum. Tonight (1/30), ExpressVu changed the name again, this time to "GLB-W".

They almost got it right. It should be called Global BC.
BCTV does not exist anymore. Global bought Western International Communications (BCTV`s parent company ) last year. All that remains of BCTV is the trademark name "BCTV News" .They (Global) have continued to use this name as a way of retaining market share after the takeover and because of the new name for VTV (BCCTV). They want to make it clear to the viewers that Global now has the "BCTV News" and not BCCTV.

I agree it should be Global-BC, but I think the IPG is limited to 5 characters. The W is consistent with their naming of CBC Vancouver as CBC-W, and Toronto as CTV, CBC and Global "E"
It may not be perfect, but it's a heck of an improvement over "CHAN,"
