Has anyone here taken Evu up on their moving promotion? Their web site say to leave the existing dish behind and they will give you a new dish and a discount on installation. There is a $50 deposit on the new dish until it is installed.

I will do my own installation, so will they just send me a box with the dish/mount/lnbf?

HOw long does it take for them to ship the new dish, do I need to give them a couple weeks notice, or more than a month?

Wait long enough and they might give you a free Dish 500 ! Of course 2 year's without tv is a log time but you could sub with Shaw cable . /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif

It takes a week to get the new dish.

If you do the installation yourself, they'll send you a free installation package, for 1 receiver only. If you want the dual LNBF capability, you must have your own stuff, on top of the free kit.

I didn't get the $50 deposit when I did the move.

For me, the DoItYourself install is a way better deal than the professional install. It would have been cheaper for me to buy the tools, the extra cable and do the job than pay the 79 install fee for 1 line...

If you have a 24" dish (and I think you do) take it with you.

Yes, I do have a 24". I was debating on taking the 24" with me, or just using the new 18". My 24" and LNB have been sitting outside for several years, so I thought new equipment would be beneficial. I don't hear of many people having rain fade any more with their 18" dishes.

The big differance is when you do have rainfade it will only last about half as long with the bigger dish.

Do yourself a favor and keep the 24.
When BEV goes dual sat you'll only have the LNB to change (again) since the 18 will then be too small unless you plan on buying a 20" then.
