Just wondering if anyone has a new Marantz 5200 or 6200 Havent found any reveiws on it just the stuff put out by Marantz. Also the 2 seem to be the same except for 20 watts more power is this a big deal? and the remote, I dont care I have my own I like. The diffrence is $200 and 20watts dosnt seem worth it. Even a thought on the power diffrence they are 85-105 would help. Thanks

Have your local Marantz dealer inform you of the difference. If the only difference is power that you don't need, obviously they will be struggling trying to sell the more expensive model.

I think the Marantz 6200 has circle curround that the 5200 lacks. They are supposed to be quite good (esp. for music) with the exception of the remotes.

I don't know how far along you are in shopping for one of these things, but I can tell you the Marantz is an incredible performer.

It doesn't have any power issues, but I am not surprised they have rated their units with higher power. Everyone is always concerned with higher power specs (even though experts always argue that you can doctor these numbers pretty easily) so they have upped them which I guess can't hurt.

Check audioreview.com for AV receiver info on Marantz. That's where I went to gain info on what's hot.

I would get one that has 5 channel stereo. It really sounds great. The DD 5.1 decoding is sweet too.

I am told that the Harmon Kardon has something called Cinema 7 that has wonderful 5 stereo sound too.

good luck.

Agreed, wildman.

I have the older Marantz SR-7000 and have been impressed with it since day one. The sound quality is excellent and the receiver is not laden with useless features (like "soundfields", for example).

When I am ready to upgrade, it will be Marantz that I look at first.

Thanks all for your replying to my post.I took the plunge a few days ago and picked one up. I was a little put off by the negitve review on the 7200 with switching problems but nothing has showed up with the 5200.I have had it only a few days no but I can say Iam very happy with it.Setup was a snap a little bit of a learning curve to it since its my first digtal receiver but within a couple of hours I was watching my first DVD with it.The sound is incredible CD DVD and even the tunner sound great really cant be happier with it.
