921 is the Canadian 4DTV receiver and it will only let you sub to Star Choice on the digital side.Once Anik F1 goes up the new footprint will reach you no problem. The analog side will let sub to any C band programming if you have a VCRS board in it.
In your case you are better off with a US 4DTV and get a 400 series Star Choice system after F1 goes on the air this fall or get an Expressvu now if you can't wait for F1.

To expand on that briefly.....

The 921 is a version of GI's 4DTV. It can be used to subscribe (graymarket) to Canadian StarChoice programming as well as US analog VC2+ services. However, the current StarChoice DC2 Ku signal has no footprint in Texas.

The other problem for Americans is that a 921 cannot be subscribed to US DC2 services.

Snowman is right. Check out the GI 920 (AKA 4DTV).

If you want Canadian subscription services in Texas consider Bell ExpressVu or wait until the new StarChoice satellite is launched sometime this fall. It will have a footprint as far south as Costa Rica.

Both StarChoice and ExpressVu are DBS little dish subscription services. You can add either with a dedicated DBS dish, appropriate receiver, and graymarket subscription.
