Still such a newbie to this. I am not sure that my TV can display 720P for ABC's lineup. How do I know if it can't? Will it be just blank, or will the HDD change it to a different mode and display it? I have it set to Native. Will running in 1080i or 480p solve any potential problems? I am not sure if these formats can be converted or something?

yes, 720p will upconvert to 1080i. I have a toshiba 40h80 and a BEV 6000 model. All 720p is coverted to 1080i, which looks good...but not as good as true 1080i.

Ranold your info is of little use to element since you own a 6000 and he owns a HDD201.

element, try the switch at the back of the decoder and see what happens,it won't hurt to try.

Element, as far as I know, Star Choice converts everything to 1080i before they uplink it anyway.

Regardless, whatever you set the switch on the back to, it will convert all formats received to that (except 'Native' of course which leaves it as received).
