Is this possible? Burn digital photo's on my computer's CD writer making a slide show. And then viewing on my TV with a DVD player?

Yep. Create a "Photo CD". Most recent DVD players recognize this format, but most older players do not. Check with your instruction manual.

P.S. My 1.5 year old Pioneer DV-656A does not support Photo CD - damn!

You can also do it as a VCD which will work with more older players.

Or, if you have a recent DVD player, a lot of them understand plain ol' jpeg, so you can just dump jpg files to a CD-R with no special format required.

Making it into a VCD is cool because you can add menus and music to it all. Ulead's DVD PictureShow (http://www.ulead.com/dps/runme.htm) works very well for this. Nero supports it also, but it's very basic. There is other software you can use also, check DVDRHelp (http://www.dvdrhelp.com/author#9).
