As for all of the HD channels, it's likely that Rogers Cable will have in the neighborhood of 15 total by the end of September, with more to come as Christmas approaches. - cablecastermagazine.com 09/15/03

Time shift HD channels will give you almost no new HD programming. Discovery HD has almost no HD programming. So why are these channels important. Give me more HD content and I'll get excited...

Hopefully HDNet and Discovery HD Theater will be CRTC approved really soon.

Time shifting in HD is VERY IMPORTANT to me anyway. Why? Because there are limited HD network shows, most of them in prime time and some opposite each other in the same time slot. Now, unless I want to buy an Digital HD recorder (I don't) if I want to watch both shows I have to choose to record one of them in SD.

As you pointed out there is relatively little HD programming so why miss out on any that you want if time shifting enables you to see more of it?

Ya and maybe the Taliban will allow same sex marriages in their countries too. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

That is exactly why I want (and have) time shifted HD. The picture on some Canadian networks is just ghastly and US SD shows almost always gets simsubbed. Even if I had a HD PVR I would still want time shifted HD nets. One night a week there are 3 or 4 HD shows opposite each other that I like to watch. Time shifting allows me to record and watch the shows I like. Until 4 tuner PVRs come along or HD PVRs become cheap enough to make 2 affordable, time shifting is the best option.

The 8000HD which has just begun shipping in the U.S. and Rogers will have in the new year allows you to tape 2 shows at once while watching a 3rd show.

I am looking forward to the arrival of HD PVRs. The biggest drawback to the 8000HD is its relatively small 120/160GB disk size. Low price may be a consolation. The 250GB DishNet/BEV PVR is reported to cost US$999 which will stifle HD PVR sales to all but the most enthusiastic consumers.

HD Timeshifting is only useful if you're going to watch your favourite HD shows between 11:00 pm and 2:00 am....I'm not that dedicated.../forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Time shifting is also quite useful if you want to record between 11 PM and 2 AM as well. Even with a 2 tuner PVR, it is useful when you want to watch more than two shows that are on at the same time. I find this happens quite often on Tuesday evening.

I know I'd love HD time shift, I work nights alot and often can only watch my shows 1100-0200.
I'd also like to get the WB HD and UPN HD. (Enterprise and Jake2.0 are available)

You wont get WB-HD until WDWB Detroit launches its HD Service. Rogers should have WKBD HD (UPN) though. They pass the channel through their network because there is two cable companies in the Hamilton area that have WKBD.

Not sure how you plan to simultaneously tune 3 shows with only two tuners built into the 8000HD. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Well since it is near the end of October, Rogers has mapped Timeshifting HD (West Coast) currently they are in the high 900's. But from what I've heard they will move and start broadcasting them before the end of the month.

Apparently you will need to sub to HD and the timeshift pkg to get them.

This is for the GTA (as far as I can tell)

As far as I know, these are just analogue duplicates - not digital. In Kitchener 217 is CKCO, and apparently in Ottawa 217 is CJOH.
